Trainee pay from $12/hr

Initial Certification pay from $17/hr

90-day pay increase from $20/hr

Objective:

The ABA Trainee Program is created to introduce individuals to the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). The Trainee program is administered and created by a supervising Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). At the end of the program, the trainee will have all the tools necessary to pass the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) examination and become an effective ethical RBT.

Registered Behavior Technician:

  • International recognized certification accredited through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)

  • Works under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and implements medical behavior intervention plan

  • Provide support to children with Autism and Related Disabilities within the center, home, school and/or community

  • Provides 1:1 positive-based behavior therapy to children with mild to moderate behaviors

  • Implements Behavior interventions that are evidence-based and follows the science of Applied Behavior Analysis

  • Work with children ages 2-17 with mild-moderate behaviors such as:

    • Non-functional communicative behaviors

    • Tantrums (dropping, screaming, crying, etc.)

    • Verbal Aggression (profanity, racial slurs, threats, etc.)

    • Physical Aggression (kicking, spitting, hitting, saliva play etc.)

    • Property Destruction (throwing objects, tearing objects, etc.)

    • Self-Injurious Behaviors (head hitting, PICA, skin picking, etc.)

Within this program the trainee will learn:

· The Principles of ABA and Radical Behaviorism

· Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Related Disabilities

· The BACB 2nd edition RBT Task List

o Measurement

o Assessments

o Skill Acquisition

o Behavior Reduction

o Documentation and Reporting

o Professional Conduct and Scope of Practice

· The BACB RBT Ethics Code (2.0)

o General Responsibilities

o Responsibilities in Providing Behavior Technician Services

o Responsibilities to the BACB and BACB-Required Supervision

· The requirements of a RBT and how to effectively practice within the field of ABA

· How to apply ABA within different settings and people

· Mandate Reporting

· Basic Life Support

Here's how it works:

After being hired, the ABA Trainee attends 40-hours of hands-on live training to become a Registered Behavior Technician. The training includes interactive live theory training, supervised client interactions, 1:1 tutoring, and mock exams all completed by a supervising BCBA. Once the 40-coursework is completed a competency assessment will be administered. The competency assessment is then submitted to the Behavior Analysis Certification Board for the approval of taking the nationally recognized certification exam to become a Registered Behavior Technician. The Trainee has 14 days (2) attempts to pass the test to be Certified. Upon passing and becoming a certified Registered Behavior Technician, salary is increased.

*A 6- month agreement is required upon hire.

Conditions that must be met before hire:

· 18 years of age

· Completed High School Diploma/GED

· Valid Social Security Card

· Valid Florida Driver License/ Identification

· Pass the Local background, Level 2 background and Sex Offender Check

​

Basic & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, running, walking, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of time.

  • Compassion and helpful nature; strong communication and interpersonal skills; great feedback skills; experience working within the childcare setting or humans with disabilities; time management; ability to multi-task; ability to make immediate decisions
